It’s Friday! I thought this day would never come, which is extra scary since I had… a 3-day work week. The last 7 days have been totally wearing though (in the best of ways), so I’m ready for kicking up my feet and taking it easy.
In a nutshell:
Last Thursday: Celebrated Dani’s handsome man’s birthday.
Last Friday: Moved into my first solo apartment, hurriedly unpacked, repacked, and shipped off for a Memorial Day weekend in Dewey.
Saturday: Tanned Fried on the beach before proceeding to fill our night with all of the beach bars we could fit in before 2 AM.
Suicide Sunday: Grapefruit crushes, pool side lounging, video games and live music. Oh, and disgustingly eating someone’s leftover fries. With sour cream. (Animal).
Monday: Drive back, stop at the bay for margaritas, cookout back in the District and first night in the new place.
Tuesday: Turn into a bag lady and buy all of the things at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Safeway… the list goes on. Lunch with a friend and dinner date (c/o Dewey, where the magic happens).
Wednesday: Work and a few too many post work/bon voyage cocktails for a coworker.
Thursday: Work and AVENGERS! Finally!
And here we are at Friday again. I’m tired just recapping, but I’m pretty sure I can find a second wind because today we’re doing lunch at Graffiato.
Friday, you’re looking good.
A moderately successful attempt to recapture the magic that college was.
Scene from the weekend: out & about celebrating this lady’s 26th birthday
You guys, I had a razzle dazzle 26th birthday and not a enough thank you’s to cover how appreciative I am of my wonderful friends who made it so great. Dinner at St. Arnold’s in Cleveland Park (um, YUM) on Thursday, a requisite dance party at George, a mid-day outing to Alero on Friday, a party for the books on Friday, and a trip to 9:30 Club on Saturday for Penguin Prison and Temper Trap (both of whom were AMAZING).
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Once I recover, I’ll share some photo highlights, promise!
This past weekend was for a lady-like bridal shower for one of my best friends, Jackie. We had a great time catching up with childhood and high school friends, playing silly games (I won, duh), and creating a veil and bouquet of ribbons and bows for the beautiful bride-to-be.
As the shower drew to a close, we loaded up our cars and high-tailed it across the state of Connecticut to Foxwoods Casino to say goodbye to Jack’s single days and ring in a new and wonderful chapter. A night filled with good food and drinks, pin the ——- on the stud, scavengers hunts and LOTS of dancing before collapsing into bed.
One of the highlights? Margaret scrounging for food at 3 AM and selling the remaining 3 slices of her $12 pizza to a drunk couple in the elevator for $20. Ahh, these are the days.
In action at Cosmic Opera - February 23, 2012.
Life has been BUSY lately. Work has been insane. Home life has been insane. And sometimes, the only way to put things into perspective is to throw yourself into something ELSE you don’t really have time for, right?
Maybe. Maybe not. Whatever the answer, I don’t regret leaving work early a week ago Thursday and taking Friday off to skip up to New York for The Cosmic Opera - Part 1, the “Extrasensory Electronic Experience” (read: a house music concert). And then, after another fun night in the city on Friday, extending my two-day stay into three. What are friends for if not for peer pressure?
Put your headphones on and jam to what you missed. Or, if you were there, relive the fun. You’ll need a nap afterwards.
So this is happening…
One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season growing up, was to catch a showing of the Nutcracker. (I’m still holding on dearly to my short-lived ballet career.) Lucky for me, I have lovely group of girlfriends who are not only willing to indulge me by accompanying me to this evening’s performance by the Washington Ballet, but who are also excited about it!
Since I’d hate for you to feel left out, I leave you with this. A seasonal greeting from the Washington Ballet and the Presidents…
Last night was for meeting new BFFs.
This morning was for late arrivals to work and all the water in the world.

We’re coming to getchya.
Bravo, Brabo.
You guys. Bacon ice cream. Let me start with: I don’t like ice cream. Whatever, judge all you want. I DO however, love bacon and if there was ever a reason to maintain my omnivore status (I contemplated vegetarianism for a hot second and by that I mean, second), bacon IS the reason.
Rewind to Saturday night dinner with mom’s best friend from high school and her family. I return from the ladies’ and am pop-quizzed by the GOH, my mom’s best friend’s husband/birthday man, “What’s the first word that comes to mind when I say, “Bacon Ice Cream”?” Obviously, my response was ”yum.”
And it was. It was more than that. It was AMAZING. And it’s all I can think about. I’m now trying to figure out, how I can get myself to Alexandria on the reg to visit Brabo for dessert. If you have wheels and are up for an adventure, call me! You won’t regret it.
on finding true love
